Hi Guys! Sorry for the delay on posting this blog, been very busy with uni deadlines and coursework, but here it is! Just a few personal recommendations for some upcoming Gigs and Festivals in Manchester this summer. If you enjoy please share with friends and family and again thank you for taking the time to give my blog a read!
Neighbourhood Weekender

After their first successful weekend last year in 2018 with Noel Gallagher and The Courteeners delivering triumphant headline performances, the Warrington based indie rock festival returns to Victoria Park on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May. This year George Ezra and Richard Ashcroft (The Verve) take the headline spots with support from the likes of Primal Scream, The Vaccines, Slaves, The Charlatans and many more. With my own personal preferences, Scotsman Gerry Cinnamon will get the crowds going crazy with his anthems ‘Belter’ and ‘Sometimes’. Another artist not to be missed is Tom Grennan. After releasing his debut album ‘Lighting Matches’ in 2018, I saw Tom at Manchester Academy and I can honestly say he is one of the best performers I have seen live. Day and weekend tickets are still available to buy through their website but be quick because after last year they are certain to sell out!!!
Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds @ Heaton Park

Noel and his High-Flying Birds return to Heaton Park for a massive homecoming gig on Friday 7th June which will be the eve of the 2-day weekend festival Parklife. It will be the first time Noel has played back at Heaton Park since the historic 3 nights Oasis played 10 years ago shortly before the band split up later that year. They will be performing in front of a massive 25,000 capacity so you can expect a booming atmosphere all night long. Expect all the biggest hits from the bands 3 albums and of course you can always hope for some of Oasis’ greatest songs to make their way into the set-list. There will be support from another local Manchester band ‘Doves’ who announced their return to the music scene after nearly a 10-year split. Noel will also be joined by a 4-piece American rock group ‘White Denim’ who’s music include influences from dub, blues and punk rock just to name a few. Tickets are available online for £60 on See Tickets and Gigs and Tours and Ticketmaster.
Parklife

Manchester’s biggest and most popular festival returns to Heaton Park for its 10th anniversary year on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June. Last year I attended Parklife and had an unreal time, the array of different artists is fantastic and there is a real mix of different genres of music across the weekend on all stages. This year I would recommend seeing Loyle Carner, who has just announced a release date for his new album ‘Not Waving, But Drowning’ – he is a fantastic live and will be sure to get you singing along to the likes of ‘No CD’ and recently released single ‘Loose Ends’. Also not to be missed for any house/techno/drums fans are the likes of: Solardo, Denis Sulta, Bicep, Chase and Status and Andy C all of which I have seen in the past year and have not been disappointed. If you and your friends haven’t sorted your plans for this weekend out yet, you need to get a move on! Weekend and Saturday general admission tickets have now sold out, but Sunday tickets are still available. You can also purchase a weekend VIP ticket which includes VIP access, a rooftop bar, Parklife house party and many more.
Blossoms @ Edgeley Park Stadium

The 5-piece Indie rock band are set to play their biggest headline show to the date at the stadium of their boyhood footy club Stockport County on Saturday 22nd June. After supporting some of the biggest names in Manchester; The Stone Roses at the Etihad and The Courteeners at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground this is set to be their career-defining gig. The local boys from Stockport grew up around the area and all went to the stadium to watch their club as youngsters, this gig is definitely going to be special. After their self-titled debut album went to straight to number 1 and their second album ‘Cool Like You’ also claiming a top 5 spot, this group really know have a fantastic future ahead of them. Crowd favourites such as ‘Charlemagne’ and ‘I Can’t Stand It’ will most definitely have the stadium shaking to it roots. With support coming from mentors to the band ‘The Coral’ and alongside an array of talented Manchester bands, Cabbage, The Blinders and Fuzzy Sun it is looking to be an exciting evening for the band and all their fans. Tickets are online at See Tickets, Gigs and Tours and Ticketmaster for only at £38.50!
